Originals from Cathy Veale!

Cathy Veale’s serene coastal watercolours have won her a significant following. We sell her pictures regularly as framed prints, but the meticulous and time-consuming nature of her work means that she is not prolific, so originals are not very often available.
However, Cathy has just brought us several originals, which are now on the wall of the gallery! It is a rare chance to see a set of her original paintings in one place – and to acquire one, if you are are so inclined!

New paintings from Philip Winstone

Just in: a set of rather nice new paintings by Philip Winstone – evocative, hard-to-pin-down images in in his characteristic restrained palette. See Artists’ Work in the Gallery 2 https://gallerypoundbury.co.uk/current-exhibition/

On the wall now alongside some seriously good Dorset landscapes  by Colin Willey, a series of large mixed-media canvases by Debra Sweeney and much more, of course…

What a day at Poundbury!

What an astonishing day at Poundbury on Saturday at the ‘Art in the Park’ event! The sun shone all day, and with around 80 artists, amateur and professional, spread out all around the Great Field, it wasn’t easy to catch up with them all, let alone come to agreement about who would get the vote when it came to the prizes…

Major congratulations to Art in Poundbury for coming up with the idea and making it happen! The overall prize (£250 from Gallery On The Square) went to James Meiklejohn, seen here with his delighted daughter and judges Binny Mathews, Finn Campbell-Notman and David Murdock.

A remarkable event…
