A new show at last!

At last… we’re off again! We have started our first exhibition post-lockdown. On the gallery walls: fascinating new pictures by Philip Winstone and Debra Sweeney. Also on display: superb new ceramics (porcelain as well as stoneware) by Steve Neville.

Current circumstances prevented our arranging a preview evening, so the next best thing, perhaps, is to put the paintings on line – and that is what we have done… Do have a look at them at https://gallerypoundbury.co.uk/current-exhibition/

New gallery artist Allan Green

A highlight of our new mixed exhibition of landscape paintings is a series of superb new pictures by a newcomer to the gallery, Allan Green.

Allan, who graduated from Falmouth School of Art with first class honours, has spent much of his life in south Devon, becoming a regular exhibitor at galleries in Dartmouth, Totnes and the South Hams. More recently he moved to west Dorset, and we are delighted to have been able to welcome him to Gallery On The Square.

If you would like to talk to him about his work, he will be in the gallery on Saturday morning, January 18 from around 11am. We hope you may be able to call in!

Pictured here is the largest of Allan’s new paintings: After The Storm (oil on canvas), 100 x 70cm, £1250.

New show: Colin Willey 2017

We’re starting 2017 on a high note with a new exhibition by our favourite Dorset landscape painter, Colin Willey.

A fresh series of pictures from Colin is always a highlight of our calendar, and this year it comes early: the exhibition starts on January 28.

Recently Colin has been ranging slightly further afield, and this time the lively Dorset landscapes and seascapes for which he has won such a following are complimented by a series from West Cornwall.

The show goes on for four weeks, before Colin’s pictures move on to this year’s Affordable Art Fair in Battersea; then some will go on to New York.

But our show comes first! If you would like an early look at the new exhibition, join us for a glass of wine on the first day, Saturday January 28, from 12 midday. Colin will be in the gallery from 12 until about 2pm.
