A glowing show from Margaret Johnson

Regular visitors to the gallery will be familiar with Margaret Johnson’s uniquely-decorated glass, finely worked with lacquers, Japanese silk paper and precious metal foils.
In this exhibition, running until September 23, we add more pieces on a larger scale, as well as (for the first time in the gallery) Margaret’s distinctive paintings in mixed media on canvas, the luminescence of which derives partly from her use of gold and silver leaf. Margaret, who studied fine art and sculpture at Goldsmith’s College in London, was a painter before her attention turned to the embellishing of glass, and still devotes some of her time to working on canvas.
